Setup Effective Users

This Setup Effective Users (SCEFFUSR) page enables the system administrators to define the delegation assignments and authority for batch jobs. Certain users or users belonging to certain roles should have the capability of running jobs as a different user known as the effective user id. This page is used to map information between users or roles and their effective users.

Field

Description

User ID

The unique identification of a user. To allow this User ID to be used as an effective user to run a batch job, also check the Allow Delegation? check box. To allow delegation from this User ID to another User ID to run a batch job, also enter an Effective User ID value corresponding to the User ID under which the batch job will run, but do not enter a Role ID value.

Role ID

The security role from which to delegate. To allow delegation from members of this security role to a User ID to run a batch job, also enter an Effective User ID value corresponding to the User ID under which the batch job will run but do not enter a User ID value.

Allow Delegation?

Indicates if processes are permitted to use this User ID as an effective user for batch jobs. For example if a job will be run as a particular User ID (for example, jobmgr), then this User ID must allow delegation; otherwise, the job will not be permitted to run with jobmgr as the effective user.

Effective User ID

The effective user id under which jobs for the User ID or Role ID will be run.

Realm ID

The value for this field is defaulted from the Realm page based on what record is marked as the default there, if left blank. The Realm ID allows users who would not otherwise have batch job scheduling rights the ability to schedule a batch job. For example, if a user does not have batch job scheduling rights, but needs to be able to run the Catalog Load Batch job, then the Realm ID, CATRLM, would be selected in this field.
