Split Performance Unit

The Performance Unit field exists to capture any unit value necessary for reporting. Labor hours is a common use where a number is captured at the accounting line and posting line of various transactions. The Charge (CH) Transaction Type has an additional capability to split the Performance Unit from the accounting line at the posting line using the logic known as Front-End-Split logic. In addition to reporting, these units can be aggregated and used as Statistical Units for a Cost Allocation.

When splitting Performance Unit, a subsequent modification of the quantity is allowed only when there is a change to another significant accounting line field, such as COA or the Line Amount. Just changing the Performance Unit quantity results in the same posting lines from the prior version with a Posting Amount of $0.00 and Performance Units of 0. When modified properly, the transaction posts the delta change. If Performance Units and Line Amount are changed, the number of posting lies is the same as the prior version. If a COA is changed, then the posting lines of the prior version are backed out and a new set is created to split the Performance Unit and Line Amount.
