Smart Suggestions

The Smart Suggestions feature in Advantage applications allows System Administrators to configure automated suggestions that notify users about specific conditions or actions required on business objects. These suggestions are generated asynchronously and displayed to end users in the application in near real-time, helping them stay informed and take timely action.

A suggestion is a user-specific notification that recommends the next step or action to be performed or informs the user about a condition that requires attention. Suggestions serve as intelligent reminders and guidance tools that help users stay on top of important tasks, pending actions, or critical information related to their work. Smart Suggestions display these recommendations in a curated and prioritized manner on the Advantage home page. Suggestions are displayed to users based on configured rules and can direct them to relevant pages where action may be needed.

Suggestions are automatically created when a user performs any action (such as inserting, updating, or validating) on a record belonging to a business object that has been configured on the Smart Suggestions Configuration page. Smart Suggestions surface applicable suggestions to users through an enhanced home page experience.

For example, if a user creates or updates a Purchase Order record and the Purchase Order business object has active suggestion rules configured, the system evaluates those rules. If the validation expression in any rule evaluates to be true, a suggestion is automatically generated and assigned to the appropriate user. These suggestions can be presented to users as Smart Suggestions on the Advantage home page, enabling quicker awareness and action.
