Costing Seller Line

Costing Seller Line (CSTSL) defines chart-of-accounts (COA) for both inter and intra fund scenarios used on seller accounting lines on transactions generated by the Internal Cost Charge Generation process. This is the primary COA inference source for the seller. It is not a source of Seller ID inferences, but rather the location where Seller IDs are defined.

Once a Seller ID has been defined, it can be entered on Equipment ID (EQID),  Internal Cost Rate (INCR), Costing Seller Line Inference 1 (CSLI1), Costing Seller Line Inference 2 (CSLI2) or Department Fiscal Year (DEPTFY). The Internal Costing process infers the Seller ID from these five sources in the order listed, and the inferred Seller ID in turn determines the Intra and Inter COA’s to use on the generated Charge (CH) transactions.

If a COA field is entered with a value other than BLNK, it is used on the seller line. If the field is left empty, the seller line uses the corresponding field value from the buyer line. If the field is specified as BLNK, then the field on the seller line is left blank. There are a few special edits with this page concerning these wildcards along with the Fund and Program fields:

  • The program fields in both the Inter COA and Intra COA sections must be entered or set to BLNK.

  • The fund fields in both the Inter COA and Intra COA sections are required and must contain the same value when the department is an Internal Service Fund as defined on Department Fiscal Year. Thee fund fields must be blank when the department is not an Internal Service Fund Department.

Please keep in mind that this page is just one that can supply COA to an accounting line or posting line.  The page is not one of the common COA inference pages in that it is used by the Internal Costing process to create accounting lines in XML before loading them where COA inference pages can then supply additional values into blank fields or overwrite values of non-blank fields when a powerful inference.
