Setting Up Employee Fringe Benefit Plans

The Employee Fringe Benefit Plan (BENP) page allows you to define benefit plans for employee fringe benefits, including pension information. A benefit type may have one or more benefit plans associated with it. In order to distinguish between benefits and deductions, once defined, employee fringe benefit plans can only be viewed on this page and not on the Deduction Plan (DPLN) page. The reverse is also true: deduction plans can only be viewed on the Deduction Plan (DPLN) page and not on this page.

The BENP page provides a complete list of enrollment options that allows users to setup benefits with as much control or as much flexibility as desired. For instance, health insurance coverage for a single carrier can be established with plans that include the following: solely the employee, solely the spouse, solely the dependent(s), employee and spouse, employee and dependent(s), employee and spouse or dependent(s), spouse and dependent(s), and employee and spouse and dependent(s).

The Benefit Coverage Indicator section on BENP includes the Self, Spouse, and Dependents drop down list, which determine whether the employee is required or not allowed, whether the spouse is required, not allowed, or optional, and whether the dependent(s) is required, not allowed, optional, or optional w/o spouse for the specific coverage plan. If a dependent(s) is optional w/o spouse, then the employee may enroll either a spouse OR dependent in the benefit plan, but not both. In addition, the number of dependents allowed for the plan can be stated through the combination of the Number of Dependents drop-down list and text box.

Validation occurs between BENP and BPCL to verify that the BENP benefit coverage level is consistent with the BPCL Default Benefit Plan Class Coverage section. If the BENP benefit coverage level is not consistent, an error message will be issued.

The Life insurance Coverage Amount field under the Benefit Parameter scalar populates the insurance coverage amount for respective plans associated with Benefit Type.
