Specify Non-Standard Dependent Coverage

To specify non-standard coverage for an employee’s dependent, you must override the dependent’s default coverage rules from the Dependent Benefits (DPBN) transaction. To do so from the Benefits Summary Landing (MEIBEN) page, perform the following steps:

  1. From the Benefits Summary Landing page, select the Manage Dependent Coverage tile from the carousal. You can switch to a different employee by selecting the Change Employee icon and then selecting a different employee.

  2. Select the Create button on the Manage Dependent Coverage page. This action transitions you to the Dependent tab of the Dependent Benefits transaction.

  3. Select the Add Record icon to add a line. A new line appears in the grid and the Dependent ID field becomes enabled.

  4. In the Dependent ID field, enter the identification number associated with the dependent that you are enrolling. Result: The dependent’s name is displayed in the Dependent Name field.

  5. Select Dependent Benefits tab. Result: The page is updated to display the Dependent Benefits and Comments subsections of the Dependent Benefits (DPBN) page. The page also features a grid used to list benefits programs in which the selected dependent is enrolled.

  6. Select Add Record from beneath the grid. Result: A new line appears in the grid and the fields on the lower portion of the page become enabled.

  7. Complete the Dependent Benefits section. To specify non-standard coverage, select the Override Coverage flag and enter the Primary Care Physician ID.
