Employee Short Term Disability (EMSTD)
The Employee Short Term Disability (EMSTD) transaction is used to maintain Short Term Disability information. The transaction has effective and expiration dates, and when modifying existing Short Term Disability information, the system carries forward the current information.

Disability To Date |
Enter the last day of the disability. This is the day before employee returns to work. The date entered must be greater than the Disability Start Date. The date entered must not fall between any other EMSTD records’ Benefit Start Date to Benefit Through Date for a different claim or the Compensability Start and Through Date. |

Entry Date |
This field displays the date the claim was originally entered in the system. This is display only auto-populates with the system date. This field is not updated when the EMSTD transaction is modified. |

Retro Supplemental |
Identifies whether the retroactive pay will be processed in either a supplemental or regular payroll cycle. If checked, retroactive Short-Term Disability and/or Mega Industrial Accident pay is marked to be processed in a supplemental payroll. If left blank, the system processes the retroactive Short-Term Disability and/or Mega Industrial Accident pay through the next regular payroll cycle. |

Recurrent Disability |
This is a check box that will identify the EMSTD transaction submitted is for a recurrent disability. Only the Recurrent Disability or the Extended Disability check box can be checked at any given time. Both check boxes cannot be checked at the same time. This check box can only be checked if the Denial Period From Date is populated, a Denial Code is entered that is identified as Return to Work on the Denial Reason Code tab and the Denial Period Through Date is equal to 29 days or less than the Denial Period From Date. If this check box is checked, then the Waiting Period From Date and Waiting Period Through Date can be left blank. |

Extended Disability |
This check box identifies that the EMSTD transaction submitted is for an extended disability which an employee incurred from a separate and unrelated cause. Only the Recurrent Disability or the Extended Disability check box can be checked at any given time. This check box is for informational purposes only. No processing is driven off of this field. If this check box is set to selected, then the Waiting Period From Date and Waiting Period Through Date can be left blank. |

Waiting Period From Date |
Enter the beginning date for the waiting period. The entered date must be greater than or equal to the Disability Start Date and less than or equal to the Waiting Period Through Date. This is a required field if the Short-Term Disability Event Type is populated. If the Recurrent Disability, Extended Disability, or the Coordination of Benefits check box is checked, then the Waiting Period From Date can be left blank. |

Waiting Period To Date |
Enter the last day of the waiting period. The entered date must be greater than or equal to Waiting Period From Date and greater than or equal to the Disability Start Date. This is a required field if the Short-Term Disability Event Type is populated. If the Recurrent Disability, Extended Disability, or the Coordination of Benefits check box is checked, then the Waiting Period From Date can be left blank. |

Benefit From Date |
Enter the beginning date for the benefit associated with the entered claim. The entered date must be greater than the Disability Start Date. The date entered must be greater than the Waiting Period Through Date. (This ensures that the employee has satisfied the waiting period before receiving Short Term Disability compensation.) If the Coordination of Benefits check box is checked, this date must equal the Compensability Start Date (under the Mega Industrial Accident information tab). The entered date must be less than the employee’s Termination Date, if the employee is terminated. Employees will be considered Terminated when the Count in Workforce flag on EMPS is cleared for the assignment record that is effective as of the From Date of the EMSTD transaction being processed. The entered date must not fall between other Short Term Disability benefit periods (Benefit Start Date to Benefit Through Date) for this record or Short-Term Disability records for the employee. If the Short-Term Disability Event Type is entered, this date is required. |

Enter the last day of the benefit associated with the entered claim. The entered date must be greater than the Benefit Start Date. The entered date must be less than or equal to the Disability Through Date and less than the employee’s Termination Date, if the employee is terminated. If the Coordination of Benefits check box is checked, this date must equal the Compensability Through Date (under the Mega Industrial Accident Information tab).
