Authorizing a New Position
Once a position has been created via the Position Maintenance (PSMT) transaction, you must authorize the new position to allow it to be assigned to a position group, if necessary, and filled. To define the number of incumbents and FTEs you are authorizing for a position, you must first create the Position Authorization Maintenance (PAMT) page from the Position Control (PCNTL) or Position Management (POSM) activity folder.
Access the desired activity folder.
Select the desired record from the search results grid and click View from the row-level action menu.
Navigate to the Position Authorization Maintenance tab.
Select the position you want to authorize in the grid.
Click the Create Position Authorization Maintenance row-level action to create and display the Position Authorization Maintenance (PAMT) transaction.
Navigate to the Position Authorization Detail tab of the transaction.
Insert a new line.
Select the position number you wish to authorize in the Position Number field pick list and populate other fields, as needed.
To enter additional lines, repeat steps 7 and 8.
Select Validate to make certain that your entries are correct.
Select Submit to record the new authorization in the system.
Select Close to exit the Position Authorization Maintenance transaction and return to the activity folder.
