Migrating Configurable Inquiries Between Environments
The Configurable Inquiry Administration (CIADMIN) page enables System and Report Administrators to migrate Configurable Inquiries between Advantage environments. This self-service functionality significantly simplifies the transfer of reporting assets across Advantage environments and ensures consistent configuration between environments.
Migration is performed using the Download and Upload actions available at the grid level. During the process, the following components are included in the data transfer:

Configurable Inquiry Business View (CIBUSVW)

BI Model List (BIMODLST)

BI Model Role Setup (BIRSETUP)

BI Security Role Mapping (BISECMAP)

Configurable Inquiry Administration (CIADMIN)
The following rules apply during migration:

The Created By field is updated with the username of the person performing the upload.

The Owner and Shared Users fields are preserved as they appear in the uploaded file.

No system restart or bounce is required—migrated Configurable Inquiries are immediately available for use.
This migration process also supports reverse transfers—for example, migrating from production to a non-production environment following a data refresh.
Prequisites
Before initiating migration, ensure the following conditions are met:

The Advantage Insight release, including the Insight Semantic Model, must be the same in both the source and target environments.

The Advantage application version must match between environments.
Steps to Migrate Configurable Inquiries

Download from the Source Environment

Navigate to the CIADMIN page and apply filters, if needed, to select specific inquiries.

Use the Download action to export inquiries into an Excel (.xlsx) file. All records in the grid, across all pages, will be included in the download.

The resulting file contains multiple sheets and uses the first three rows for header information. Do not modify the structure of the file.

Upload to the Target Environment

In the target environment, use the Upload action to import the downloaded file.

The system processes the file row by row, top-down. Any rows that pass validation will be uploaded successfully.

If validation errors occur, an error message will display details and indicate how many rows were uploaded successfully.

If re-upload is needed after corrections, delete any previously uploaded rows in the target system before attempting the upload again.
Important Notes

Do not manually modify the contents or structure of the downloaded file, especially the header rows and worksheet tabs. Doing so may lead to failed uploads or data integrity issues.

Partial uploads are supported. The system will skip duplicate or invalid records and upload only new, valid inquiries.

Only Excel files in .xlsx format are supported for upload.
