Alternate Accrual Method Overview

The Alternate Accrual Method functionality provides the following:

  • The ability to automate leave accruals based on a full month of hours reported for semi-monthly employees.

  • The ability to accrue a defined amount of leave based on what ‘band’ (min/max) the hours reported for the evaluation period falls within, rather than prorating the leave accrual.

  • The ability to calculate leave accruals prorated due to leave without pay based on either scheduled hours or pay class hours.

  • The ability to calculate accruals differently for 56-hour and non-56-hour pay classes.

  • The ability to identify certain categories of pay events that can impact how the leave accrual amount is calculated.

The Alternate Accrual Method process runs as part of the regular automated leave accrual processing in gross to net. No additional jobs need to be scheduled.
