Leave Policy (LPOL)
The Leave Policy (LPOL) page allows you to define the codes, which identify all leave policies used by an organization to govern all employee leave processing. The application refers to these policies when processing employee transactions. The number of policies set up reflects the amount of control over leave processing. For example, you can set up an exception and positive leave policy, or you can set up more specific policies such as exception-administrative, exception-technical, or positive-administrative, and positive-technical.

The Leave Policy page contains the following fields:
Field Name |
Field Description |
From |
The date this information becomes effective. This field should be entered in mm/dd/ccyy format. |
To |
The last date for which this information is effective. The default value for the operating system is 12/31/9999, which indicates the latest available date. |
Policy |
The identification code associated with the leave policy. Leave policies define sets of leave processing rules. |
Leave Year Ending Month |
The month that defines the year end for this leave policy for all leave year to date balances defined for this leave policy. |
Automate Leave Accrual |
If checked, automatic leave accruals are allowed for the policy. If not selected, leave accrual should not be automated. |
Automate Leave Based On |
Indicates if automated leave accrual should be accrued based on the Pay Period Start Date or Pay Period End Date. The default value is Pay Period End Date. |
Maximum Benefit Percent |
Indicates the maximum percentage of an employee's gross pay that can be received while on worker's compensation. The value indicated in this field overrides the value specified in the WORKERS COMP MAX BENEFIT PCT Site Specific Parameter (SPAR) entry. This value is used as the exception in claim calculation for the employee assigned with this leave policy. |
Workers Compensation Rate |
Indicates the normal percentage of gross pay an employee can receive while on workers' compensation. The value indicated in this field overrides the value specified in the WORKERS COMP RATE SPAR entry. This value is used as the exception in claim calculation for the employee assigned with this leave policy. |
Workers Comp Waiting Period |
Indicates the waiting period that must be met before a workers' compensation claim is accepted and payment of compensation benefits can begin. During the waiting period, employees may have to use an alternate form of leave (for example, sick leave, vacation leave, leave without pay). The value indicated in this field overrides the value in the WORKERS COMP WAITING PERIOD SPAR entry. This value is used as the exception in claim processing for the employee assigned with this leave policy. |
Workers Comp Retroactive Period |
The purpose of the retroactive period is to pay the employee indemnity benefits for all time missed from work when the claim is significant enough to cause the employee to be off work for a greater period of time. Some sites may have a requirement that an employee's time away from work last more than a specified number of days (retroactive period) before benefits will be reimbursed. For example, an employee may have to be away from work for 14 days before reimbursement would be made for the leave that was used for that time period. Once a claim has been accepted and the Workers Comp Waiting Period and/or Workers Comp Retroactive Period requirements have been met, if the employee used a reimbursable leave type, such as vacation, the employee will be reimbursed for the number of hours used for that leave type during the waiting period. The value indicated in this field overrides the value in the WORKERS CMP RETROACTIVE PRD SPAR entry. This value is used as the exception in claim processing for the employee assigned with this leave policy. |
Ratio for Leave Donation Calculation |
This field indicates the ratio to be used for prorating Leave Donations where the Bank being donated to or leave transferred from has the field Calculate Bank Donation/Transfers based on Leave Policy Ratio checked. By default, this field is set as blank indicating a 1 :1 ratio. |
