The Debt (DEBT) Document Type contains several document codes that are used for the Loan, Lease, and Bond Major Types of Debt. Each Major Type of Debt has a separate Setup document and a Modification document that are used to add and maintain information to the respective Debt Registry pages. Refer to the sections listed below for more information on these documents. There is a seventh document also provided that has a very specific use with all Major Types of Debt, it is the Debt Status Change (DEBTSC) document. When the Authorization Status or Debt Instrument Status needs to be changed temporarily or permanently without the need to update any reporting information about why the status change was made, this seventh document is provided to make that change easy as all other information is not displayed.
The Debt documents do not perform any accounting, but rather are used to create and maintain information within Debt Management. The Debt documents cannot be modified or cancelled, thus only version 1 of each is permitted. If a mistake is made, then another modification document is required. Only a very limited number of fields on the Debt Management inquiry pages are updated by batch processing or the processing of accounting documents. All other fields are updated only by the Debt documents.
The creation of Debt documents occur from the Document Catalog as with most other document types. However, the Debt Registry pages have actions that create either a Modification or DEBTSC document for a user with different amounts of information pre-populated based on the action taken. As with other documents, the Debt documents can be copied to create similar Authorizations and Debt Instruments. When a setup document is copied, all the information other than the Authorization Debt ID and Debt ID is copied. The copying of modification documents can be done, but it is far easier to create a modification from the Debt Registry pages.
