Fixed Asset Accounting Ledger

The Fixed Asset Accounting Ledger (LAPDFA) stores the summarized records of Fixed Asset transactions from the Fixed Asset Accounting Journal. In addition to the regular summarization options on the Journal Ledger Control (JLCTRL) page this LAPDFA ledger looks at two specialized summarization options: Fixed Asset Type and Fixed Asset Number.  The recommended settings for these fields are to check the Fixed Asset Type flag and set the Fixed Asset Number value to ‘Fixed Asset Number’ or ‘Fixed Asset Component Number’.  Choose the setting that is the appropriate level of detail desired.  This ledger is the only one that can support these summarization options.  Any other ledger would summarize the Fixed Asset Accounting Journal but would not retain Asset Type, Asset Number, or Component Number, which would result in a ledger that is not very useful for asset reporting.

This ledger will be balanced and is used in generating balances of fixed asset components on the Fixed Asset Balance Summary (FABALSQ) and Fixed Asset Component Balance Summary (FACBALSQ) pages.

The Fixed Asset Accounting Ledger is one that cannot be archived by the Journal/Ledger Archive process because that process has an edit to prevent a ledger from being archived to a greater extent than the source journal of the ledger.  As the Fixed Asset Accounting Journal cannot be archived either, it prevents the ledger from being archived.
