To control combinations of the referencing document code and the referenced document code, the Document Allowable References table is provided. All types of references edit against this table: Partial, Final, Memo, and Inverse.
Wildcard values for the referencing document code (Doc Code) and the referenced document code (Reference Code) are supported to allow definition at the document type level. A value of ALL is used in such a case. Wildcard availability means that the application will try to find a record with an exact match first, and if found, then that record is used. If no exact match is found then an attempt will be made to find a wildcard entry.
Entries added to this table do not guarantee that a reference can be made between two documents. Certain document types have edits in place that will not allow this. For example, commodity-based documents do not allow references to non-commodity documents.
The fields on the Document Allowable References (DARF) table are as follows:
Field Name |
Field Description |
Doc Type (Referencing Document Type) |
Each record on DARF requires the entry of a referencing document type defined on the Document Type table. |
Doc Type Short Name |
The short name of the selected referencing document type is inferred from the Document Type table and displayed for informational purposes. |
Doc Code (Referencing Document Code) |
Each record on DARF requires the entry of a referencing document code defined on the Document Control table. A wildcard of ALL is allowed to indicate all document codes for the Referencing Document Type. |
