CGI Advantage Financial is a complete financial management system specifically designed to support the functions performed by local governments, state governments, school districts, and higher education institutions. In addition to the standard accounting functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger, CGI Advantage Financial also performs the specialized functions of encumbrance control, fund accounting, grants and project management. Using data provided by users, CGI Advantage Financial maintains a financial database that can be used to produce a variety of detail and summary level information.
CGI Advantage Financial uses an approach to financial management that lets users control financial resources while being responsive to the challenges of modern public finance.
CGI Advantage Financial incorporates a variety of business functions, such as budgeting, general and cost accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, resulting in a single, integrated system that addresses the key financial management processes that an entity needs.
CGI Advantage uses a Web interface to display the following different types of application pages:
Documents – Used to record financial events (for example, a Journal Voucher). Documents are viewed and maintained through the Document Catalog, which displays recent activity for documents and provides access to all documents in the system. Please refer to the Documents User Guide for more information.
Inquiries – Used to display summary and detailed information from system-maintained tables. These pages are for viewing and generally cannot be used to modify data (for example, Receivable by Status inquiry). Please refer to the Page/Table User Guide for more information.
Reference Tables – User-maintained tables that can be updated by users who have appropriate security authorization, and system-maintained tables that are updated by the system through document updates or offline processes. Please refer to the Page/Table User Guide for more information.
Understanding the above distinctions is important because it makes it easier for you to search for a particular type of page.
The Getting Started User Guide provides information on the features of CGI Advantage that are not specific to documents, tables, or inquiries.
