This section contains an alphabetical list of terms that are common in Internal Costing and a definition for each one.
Recording the usage of equipment (e.g., Using a tow truck). |
A fixed rate is one that is constant throughout and not dependent upon usage (e.g., monthly rate for insurance). This rate can only be used for Equipment. |
The Internal Vendor is considered the “Seller” and may be selected for those items that should generate revenue entries to their “owner” accounting distribution for the amount of usage. |
IVAD defines the Vendor (‘Seller’) and the Accounting Distribution to be used. In the Charge Document generated by Internal Costing Process, this information is used to build the Seller Lines. |
The process of testing materials (e.g., testing materials in a lab). The costs associated with materials testing can be submitted through the Internal Costing process to appropriately charge the entity(s) requesting the test. |
A standard rate is one that is a variable rate applied based upon usage (e.g., cost per mile for usage). The reason two types of costs exist is to support the capture of two different costs for the same piece of equipment, i.e. two separate Internal Cost Rate table records with the same Equipment Class. |
Usage Class is a system-generated field; users actually enter one of the three separate class fields: Equipment Class, Employee Class, or Materials Testing Class, according to the Usage Type and that becomes the Usage Class for the corresponding set-up record. Usage class is defined along with the rate in the Internal Cost Rate table. |
Usage Group is a broad classification of internal usage. The Usage Groups are pre-defined and changes are not allowed. There are five different groups delivered: Labor, Mileage, Equipment (ID Required), Equipment (ID Optional) and Materials Testing. |
The Usage Type is a sub-dividision of Usage Groups. Each Usage Type is associated with one of the five Usage Groups. Usage Type is a configurable list and can be configured by making changes in CVL_USG_TYP. |
