The System Options (SOPT) table provides you with a set of characteristics that guide your budget and accounting activities. Each control or option that you set on SOPT is associated with a business rule that drives events/actions throughout the system. This table contains the collection of flags, rules and controls that guide processes that read these options and controls as guidelines.
Records on SOPT are unique by Fiscal Year. A year-end process (NYTI - New Year Table Initialization) exists to populate the table with values for a coming year so you do not have to enter them manually unless you choose to modify them. When you add a new record or search for old records, you are presented with an option to select the applicable fiscal year from the Fiscal Year table. This table should not be changed in the middle of a fiscal year.
The SOPT table contains many sections. Refer to the "System Options" section in the CGI Advantage Financial - General Accounting User Guide, for more information on the SOPT table and its controls related to Expense, General, and Revenue. Refer to the "System Wide Options and Controls" section in the CGI Advantage Fixed Assets User Guide for more information on the SOPT table and its controls related to Fixed Assets.
The fields on the SOPT table that impact Internal Costing are discussed below:
The Internal Cost section on the SOPT table stores options and controls that apply by Fiscal Year to all users of the Internal Costing functionality. The following fields exist on this section:
Mileage Rate - This field establishes a standard rate for all mileage across the system for a Fiscal Year. The Mileage Rate field must be greater than zero. During the Internal Costing process, the value entered in this field is used for costing mileage usage.
Materials Testing Class Inference Indicator - This flag is read by the Internal Costing Usage Transaction (ICT). If an ICT accounting line records usage of the Usage Group Materials Testing and this flag is selected, then the ICT line will infer the Usage Class from the Materials Testing Class Inference (MATIN) page. Two ICT fields needed to perform inference from MATIN are required only if this SOPT flag is checked. Those fields are the ”Materials Testing Department” and ”Materials Testing Program”. If this flag is not selected, then the MATIN entries will not be used for Materials Class inference, even if they are properly set up.
