Samantha

Samantha is a generative AI-powered virtual assistant embedded within the CGI Advantage ERP platform. It enables users to ask natural language questions and receive context-aware answers generated at query time from validated Advantage documentation as well as approved site-specific documentation (when licensed). Samantha reduces reliance on manual searches, improves user efficiency, and delivers intelligent, role-based support directly within the application.

Beyond baseline Advantage documentation, Samantha provides a self-service framework that enables sites to upload their own documentation and design, configure, and deploy AI agents tailored to their business needs.

Samantha Modes:

Samantha is available in two versions for CGI-hosted Advantage clients:

Samantha (Free):

  • Trained on CGI’s baseline Advantage documentation, including Run Sheets, User Guides, and Common Guides.

  • Available at no extra cost for all Advantage Cloud clients.

  • Responses are filtered based on the user’s application access, ensuring guidance is relevant to the modules they can access.

  • Example: A user with access only to Financial will receive responses limited to Financial documentation.

Samantha+ (Licensed):

  • Requires a separate license and unlocks advanced, configurable capabilities.

  • Samantha Q&A - Allows clients to upload site-specific documentation such as internal policies, procedures, and job aids.

  • Samantha Agents - A self-service capability that empowers users to design, configure, validate, test, and deploy their own workflows independently.

  • Content is mapped to business roles, enabling highly tailored, role-specific responses.

  • Provides access to configuration tools such as Connector Builder, Prompt Management and Role Mapping.

  • Offers optional analytics and conversation tracking.

  • When site-specific mode is activated, baseline Advantage documentation is disabled to ensure responses are derived exclusively from client-provided content.

Note: Samantha is disabled by default to support responsible AI governance and compliance requirements. Refer to the “AI Transparency and Governance Dashboard” and “ERP Application Parameters” topics in this guide for details on enabling and managing this feature.

Feature

Feature Description

AI-Powered Assistance

Provides natural, human-like responses based on Advantage baseline end-user documentation.

Role Based Responses

Answers are tailored to the user’s application access. Example: Users with access to Advantage HRM and Financial receive responses relevant to those modules documentation, while vendor users cannot access employee-specific documentation.

Samantha Agents switch

A self-service capability that empowers users to design, configure, validate, test, and deploy their own workflows independently. Agents can be configured and assigned based on business roles, and users can seamlessly switch between available agents directly within the chatbot interface

Copy Functionality

Users can copy responses directly from the Samantha chat window for easy reference.

In-Session Chat History

Users can scroll within their current chat session to review previous questions and Samantha’s responses. However, chat history is not retained once the session ends.

Maximize and restore

Users can click the Maximize Samantha button to make the chat window occupy the full screen, and the Restore Samantha button returns the chat window to its previous state.

Minimize

Users can click other Minimize Samantha button to reduce  the chat window without losing their chat session. The chat can be reopened  from the bottom right launch area.

Streaming response

Samantha’s response is delivered in a streaming format, shown in chunks as soon as a query is submitted.

Show references

Clicking the Show References button, which appears at the end of Samantha’s response, expands the view to 100% width and displays the referenced documents. In this expanded state, the Ask Samantha popover is split into two sections: the Chat area and the Reference Documents area. A splitter separates the two, and the Reference Documents section shows the file icon, file name, and match percentage. Match percentages of 70% and above are shown in green, while those below 70% are shown in orange.

Hide References

The Hide References button is visible after selecting the Show References button. When clicked, it collapses the References section, while keeping the Samantha chat window  expanded.

Stop Querying

Users can stop Samantha’s response at any time by clicking the Stop Querying button, which replaces the send icon while a response is being generated. This allows users to cancel the reply instantly if it is no longer needed.

Like and Dislike Feedback

Users can provide feedback by clicking the Like or Dislike buttons, along with an optional comment. They can provide both types of feedback for the same response if needed.

Handling Long Queries

Users can type long queries in the Samantha chat window. The text box size increases dynamically to accommodate the first 5 lines and displays a scrollbar for queries longer than that.

Reflow

Users can access the Reflow feature, which ensures that Samantha remains fully functional and content-rich, even when the browser is zoomed in. Depending on the system’s screen resolution and zoom level, Samantha automatically adjusts to fill the entire application screen, delivering an optimal viewing experience without compromising content or functionality.

Toggle Switch

The Toggle Switch feature in the Reference Documents section allows users to refine the search context by selecting specific files to be used as references. The toggle switch becomes visible when the user clicks the Show References button. When a user enables the toggle for a specific row, the row is visually highlighted by a background color change, and the selected document is included as a reference for subsequent related searches. Users can enable multiple documents using the toggle switch, allowing the system to consider all selected files when generating search results. This targeted filtering improves the accuracy and relevance of search results, especially when working with large sets of reference files. Users can toggle off any selection during the same chat session to reset the filter and return to the default search behavior, which considers all available reference documents.

Samantha setup involves shared system configuration steps and version-specific onboarding requirements.
