Employee Attributes (ATTR)
The Employee Attributes (ATTR) transaction allows you to record and view basic employee personal attributes such as date of birth, education at appointment, and veteran information. If the Social Security Number (SSN) has been applied for and is not available, refer to "Applied for Social Security Number topic in the Advantage HRM Tax Reporting Supplement for more information.
Note: An Employee can also update their Employee Attributes via the Profile Information Landing > Manage Personal Information carousel tile. Employees should refer to the “Employee Attributes” topic in the Employee/Manager User Guide for more information.
The Race/Ethnicity field pick list displays the values from the Race/Ethnicity reference page based on the setup of Text Value of the Site Specific Parameter (SPAR) ETHNICITY ENTRY TYPE and EEO Report Type field on the Extended Department (DEPTX) reference page.
The Gender drop-down field displays the values from the Gender reference page. All gender entries link back to a federal definition of either Female, Male, or No Entry for federal reporting purposes.
An electronic photo (.jpg, .bmp or .gif) of the employee can be uploaded into the system using the Attachments command in the Action menu. Click the Upload link on the Attachments page. Select the photo using the Browse button, enter a description, select Employee Photo as the Attachment Type, and then click Upload. The photo is then accessible for download through the Employee Attributes section on the Employee Profile Management activity folder.

When an employee falls under EEO-5 reporting standards (for Elementary and Secondary School Districts), an entry in at least one of the EEO race fields is required. Any combination and number of races may be selected. When an employee is determined to fall under either EEO-4 (for State and Local Governments) or EEO-4A (for the State of Hawaii) reporting standards, this field must be cleared. The determination of what EEOC reporting standards an employee falls under is defined in the Site Specific Parameter (SPAR) entry ETHNICITY ENTRY TYPE. When the text value of this entry is EEO4, EEO4A, or EEO5, all employees at the site will be edited according to those standards. When the text value of this SPAR entry is MULTI, employees will be edited according to the EEO Report Type field entered on the Extended Department (DEPTX) table for the employee’s home department (as defined on the blank appointment or applicants on the Job Notice). |
Asian |

Citizenship Status |
Indicates the type of citizen status: Alien, Natural Citizen, or Naturalized Citizen. |
Conviction |
Indicate whether the applicant has or has not been convicted of a crime, other than a traffic violation. |
Country of Residence |
The identification code associated with the country where the employee has residency status. If left blank, the Country code entered in the Home address on Employee Address (ADDR) is entered on the 1042-S form as the country of residence. The Country of Residence code can also be overridden on 1042-S (1042). |
Date of Birth |
The birth date of the employee, applicant or dependent. This field should be entered in mm/dd/ccyy format. |
Date of Death |
The date of death for the employee, applicant or dependent. This field should be entered in mm/dd/ccyy format. For workers' compensation claims, if the OSHA Case Type is Death, this date must be specified. |
Degree |
The identification code associated with the degree or the type of degree. |
Degree Description |
The short description of the degree code. |
Disability |
The identification code associated with the disability. The disability code is used to identify those employees, applicants, or dependents who have a disability. |
Disability Description |
The short description of the disability code entered. |
Discharge Description |
The short description of the discharge. |
Discharge Date |
Required if Veteran Status indicates the employee is a veteran. Enter the discharge type code. |
Discharge Type |
The identification code associated with the discharge type. |
EEO Race/Ethnicity |
The Race/Ethnicity field provides the identification code associated with the employee's or applicant's ethnicity. |
EEO Race/Ethnicity Federal Definition |
The Race/Ethnicity Federal Definition field provides the short description of the race/ethnicity code. |
Gender |
The Gender field provides the identification code associated with the employee’s or applicant’s gender. This field displays entries from the Gender reference page. |
Highest Rank |
The identification code associated with the rank. |
Highest Rank Description |
Description of the highest military rank code. |
Hispanic / Latino |
It is required to select the valid values Yes or No in this field when an employee falls under EEO-5 reporting standards (for Elementary and Secondary School Districts. The field is blank when an employee is determined to fall under either EEO-4 (for State and Local Governments) or EEO-4A (for the State of Hawaii) reporting standards, as entry in the Hispanic/Latino field is restricted. The determination of what EEOC reporting standards an employee falls under is defined in the Site Specific Parameter (SPAR) entry ETHNICITY ENTRY TYPE. When the text value of this entry is EEO4, EEO4A, or EEO5, all employees at the site will be edited according to those standards. The identification code associated with the education major or minor. |

Pref Credit Used Date |
Optional if Veteran Status indicates the employee is a veteran. Enter the date upon which the employee used veteran's credits. This field should be entered in mm/dd/ccyy format. |
Reserve Branch |
Required if Veteran Status indicates the employee is a veteran. Enter the code that indicates whether the employee is in the reserves, and what kind of reserve the employee is in. |
Reserve Branch Description |
Description of the reserve branch code entered. |
Retro Seniority Date |
The retroactive seniority date of the employee. This field should be entered in mm/dd/ccyy format. |
School / Course Location |
The identification code associated with the school or course. |
School Description |
Description of the school code entered. |
Service Branch |
The identification code associated with the branch code. |
Service Branch Description |
Description of the service branch code entered. |
SSN Applied For |
This check box indicates whether employees have applied for a social security number (SSN). |
Social Security Number |
The current social security number associated with the employee. If the field-level security for this field is enabled, access is restricted to only authorized users. Asterisks (*) are displayed for non-authorized users. |
User Code 1 to through 5 |
These fields are reserved for site-specific use. These fields are optional and do not have any edits on them. |
User Date 1 to through 5 |
These User defined date fields are reserved for site-specific use. These fields are optional and do not have any edits on them. |
User Flag 1 through 5 |
These fields are reserved for site-specific use. These fields are optional and do not have any edits on them. |
Verify Degree |
Default is Clear. Select the check box if employee has a degree. Clear the check box if the employee does not have a degree at the time of application. |
Veteran Description |
Description of the veteran status code entered. |
Veteran Status |
The identification code associated with the veteran status. |
White |

Year Completed |
The year the degree the individual graduated and obtained the degree. |
The Employee Attributes transaction can be created in the following ways:

Select the Create action on the Transaction Catalog.

Select the Create Employee Attributes tab-level action on the Employee Attributes tab of the Employee Profile Management (EPM) activity folder.

Select the Modify row-level action on the Employee Attributes tab of the Employee Profile Management (EPM) activity folder.

Select the Create or Edit action on the Profile Information Landing > Manage Personal Information carousel tile to add new or edit an existing information for the selected employee.
Once you have made all the changes, select the Validate button to make sure all your entries are correct. Select Submit to submit the transaction. Select Save to save the details you entered. You can select the Save & Close button to save the details you entered and return to the Manage Personal Information carousel tile. If you select the Cancel button, you will exit the Employee Attributes transaction without saving your changes.
