Foreign Organization

The Foreign Organization (SCFORG) page is used to define additional organizational entities a user can or cannot access in addition to the home organization. A different set of organizational code combinations can be set for each of the following combinations: Security Role/Resource Group/User ID, Security Role/Resource Group/Home Department, Security Role/User ID ((if a Resource Group of ALL is specified), or Security Role/Home Department combination (if a Resource Group of ALL is specified). These organizational code combinations are called foreign organizations. Foreign organizations provide a wider variety of organization code combinations for securing a resource. Leaving any foreign organization code, such as Unit Code, blank indicates that any value for that organization code will match and be authorized for access.

Field

Description

User ID

Indicates the User ID within the specified Security Role that should be granted access to the foreign organization.

  • If the Foreign Organization Restriction for the selected security role is None, then foreign organizational security for the selected security role is determined by the security role and resource group combination; therefore, a value of ALL must be entered as User ID.

  • If the Foreign Organization Restriction for the selected security role is User ID Required, then foreign organizational security for the selected Security Role is determined by the security role, resource group, and User ID combination or security role and User ID combination (if Resource Group is ALL). Therefore, a value of ALL is not allowed in the User ID field for records associated with the selected security role; a valid User ID must be selected.

  • If the Foreign Organization Restriction for the selected security role is User ID or Home Department Required, then foreign organizational security for the selected security role is determined by one of the following combinations: security role, resource group, and User ID; security role, resource group, home department, security role, and /User ID (if the Resource Group ID is ALL); or security role and home department combination (if Resource Group is ALL). Therefore, a value of ALL is not allowed in both the User ID and Home Department fields for records associated with the selected Security Role ID. Either a valid User ID must be selected and/or a valid Home Department must be selected.

Home Department

A department established on the Department (DEPT) chart of accounts reference page. A special wildcard of ALL is also allowed.

  • If the Foreign Organization Restriction for the selected security role is None, then foreign organizational security for the selected security role is determined by the security role and resource group combination; therefore, a value of ALL must be entered in the Home Department field.

  • If the Foreign Organization Restriction for the selected security role is Home Department Required, then foreign organizational security for the selected security role is determined by the security role, resource group, and home department combination or security role and home department combination (if Resource Group ID is ALL). Therefore, a value of ALL is not allowed in the Home Department field for records associated with the selected security role; a valid Home Department must be selected.

  • If the Foreign Organization Restriction for the selected security role is User ID or Home Department Required, then foreign organizational security for the selected security role is determined by one of the following combinations: security role, resource group, and User ID; security role, resource group, home department, security role, and User ID ((if Resource Group ID is ALL); or security role and home department combination (if Resource Group ID is ALL). Therefore, a value of ALL is not allowed in both the User ID and Home Department fields for records associated with the selected Security Role. Either a valid User ID must be selected and/or a valid Home Department must be selected.
