Beneficiary Designation (BDES)

The Beneficiary Designation (BDES) transaction allows you to designate beneficiaries to benefit plans in which you are enrolled. Information regarding the percentage of distribution to the beneficiaries can also be recorded on this page.

Note:  A Human Resource user can also update Beneficiary Designation on your behalf via the Beneficiary Designation transaction. Human Resource users should refer to the “Beneficiary Designation” topic in the Personnel Management User Guide for more information.

Use this tab to enter the employee information for whom benefit plans need to be specified. You can also specify beneficiaries to these benefit plans in the Beneficiary Designation Details page. Enter identification code of the employee in Employee ID, type of the benefit in Benefit Type and benefit plan in Benefit Plan. You can also enter other optional fields.

Use this tab to enter Beneficiary Designation Details such as Dependent ID, Name of Beneficiary, Beneficiary Type, % of Distribution and Relationship

In the Dependent ID field, enter the identification number associated with the dependent that you are enrolling in the benefit. The Dependent's name is displayed in the Name of Beneficiary field.  If the Beneficiary is a Trust, enter only the Trust, Date of Trust, and Trustee fields.

The Beneficiary Designation transaction can be created in the following ways, based on user access rights:

  • Select the Create or Edit action on the Benefits Summary Landing > Manage Beneficiary Designation carousel tile to add new or edit existing beneficiary information. Once you have made all of your changes, select the Save & Close button to save the beneficiary information and return to the Manage Beneficiary Designation carousel tile. If you select the Cancel button, you will exit the Manage Beneficiary Designation transaction without saving your changes.

  • Select the Create action on the Transaction Catalog.
